What Does A QA Editor Do?

Speakeasy Marketing Inc. is looking for a QA Editor who brings both attention to detail and a passion for helping people. This part-time, ongoing role involves ensuring the quality of transcripts and SEO-optimized articles, all aimed at connecting attorneys with the clients who need them most.

Our content isn’t just about information; it’s about building trust with people who are facing legal challenges. We want readers to feel supported and confident enough to reach out to our attorney clients.

As a QA Editor, you’ll play an important role in shaping content that combines technical information with a tone that truly resonates with people. Your primary responsibility will be reviewing, editing, and scoring completed content (such as legal transcripts and SEO-optimized articles). You’ll also work with our team to offer feedback that helps improve writer performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conducting QA checks on transcripts and articles.
    • Proofreading for grammar and punctuation.
    • Making necessary corrections to ensure consistency, clarity, and proper formatting.
    • Scoring the document based on our rubric and providing feedback.
      • (Each QA check takes approximately 30 minutes to complete.)
  • Reporting issues with low-scoring transcripts to the team for reassignment or further action.
  • Making edits to transcripts as needed to improve quality, and logging any additional feedback for coaching purposes.
  • Providing consistent communication regarding the QA process.

Qualifications

Required

  • Strong attention to detail and grammar proficiency.
  • Experience using tools such as Grammarly or Hemingway to assist with grammar and style checks.
  • Ability to ensure clarity, consistency, and flow in written content.
  • Knowledge of document formatting (headings, bullet points, alignment, etc.).
  • Ability to complete tasks within a given timeframe and communicate about tasks that go over the allotted time.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to provide constructive feedback.

Preferred

  • Experience in editing legal or technical content.
  • Familiarity with SEO practices and optimizing content for web use.
  • Previous QA or content editing experience.

Team Participation

While this is a remote and primarily individual role, occasional participation in team meetings, one-on-one sessions, and coaching sessions may be required. Our editors work together to ensure that our content meets the high standards expected by our clients.

Compensation

Your work with Speakeasy is paid on a per-assignment basis. On average, you can expect approximately 10 hours of QA work each week. You will be paid weekly through direct deposit after submitting an invoice for your work each Friday.

  • $20 per hour, approximately 10 hours per week to start.
  • Additional compensation for approved QA revisions that take more than 30 minutes, based on your hourly rate.
