For the past 60 years, the National Association for Criminal Defense Lawyers (NACDL) has been on a mission to support criminal defense attorneys, create educational seminars on criminal law and justice, increase the accessibility of a range of resources, and ensure that every individual is able to exercise their right to due process. Kyle O’Dowd, associate executive director for policy at the NACDL, and Jessica Stepan, associate executive director for strategic marketing at the NACDL join the podcast to discuss the most recent and relevant topics in the area of criminal law and a few programs that are just around the corner in 2019.
There are a variety of NACDL membership categories, including regular private practice, military, judge, an associate member, all of which receive the benefit of having access to an amazing community and a pool of the best lawyers in the profession, as well as online communities for networking and relationship building. A discussion of the impact of race on criminal justice and the most recent research about bias in the criminal justice system will be at the forefront of Race Matters 2, an NACDL program slated for January 10th and 11th of 2019 in Los Angeles, CA.
